Erectile Dysfunction, or ED for short, is the politically correct, medical jargon term for what has most commonly been referred to as impotence. Simply put, it is a sexual problem relating to a male difficulties in achieving, or sustaining, an erection.
It is an extremely common problem, affecting men of all ages, leading to deep psychological scarring and feelings of inadequacy and low self esteem.

This sexual problem is one which can genuinely be caused by both physiological and psychological problems. It is for this reason that we strongly recommend that sufferers speak to their GP's in the first instance to rule out any physical causes of the problem.
Physical causes of impotence include diabetes, high blood pressure (which may be resulting from psychological stresses), heart disease, alcoholism, or other serious illnesses such as cancer.
Psychological causes of ED can include such issues as Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Fears, Phobias, sub-
Yes … but the issue becomes HOW it is treated.
As mentioned earlier, we feel that it is important to consult a GP to rule out physiological reasons for the problem. Depending upon the outcome of those conversations, you may be prescribed with any number of drugs. Quite often, the drugs that will subdue the physical symptoms of the physiological cause have side effects that will reduce your wish to engage in sex at all e.g. one common side effect of a 'viagra' like drug is headaches in 10% of all users! Beta blockers, for high blood pressure, commonly result in dizziness and tiredness, neither of which are conducive to sexual activity.

It is sad, but many sufferers of ED are so worried about talking to someone about their problem that the problem can remain untreated for years. Can you imagine the strain that this puts on both the suffering individual and their sexual partner?
Colin Young, one of the therapists at Tranceformed Perceptions, has suffered from this problem personally, and relates to these concerns. He has faced up to this problem in his life, and would assure you that if you choose to discuss your troubles with him, you shall be met with an understanding ear (two of them, in fact) and a completely non-
“I’m happy to let everyone know that I have defeated this problem. It shows those who are suffering that it is possible, and hopefully will reassure them that they will be met with an open and understanding approach. It’s not something to hide. It doesn’t make you ‘less of a man’ and by getting help you are empowering your sex life to a whole new level … and who wouldn’t want that?”

“… you’ve made me a man again! I can’t thank you enough, and neither can Mrs ******! I wasn’t able to perform [sexually], and have had it like that for years. Going back and finding out why this happened meant that I could deal with it. My only issue is that the sessions aren’t long enough. I felt so good that I didn’t want to come out [of hypnosis]”
“I don’t know how to write this, so bear with me. For years, … I’ve pretended to orgasm so often that … I didn’t think it was even possible. You blew that idea out of my head alright. When I think about it it feels weird. I go to ‘sleep’ and wake up able to have shuddering orgasms but I feel so good about it that I just disregard my own surprise. I will certainly be recommending you.”
“Colin, we’re just back from holiday … I did the self hypnosis trick you showed me and imagined the flight as I wanted to experience it. It was great to be part of the trip this time … I must admit that I felt a little anxious in preparation for the holiday, but stuck with your ‘homework’ and it paid off big time. Thanks, buddy, for all your help.”
“I’ve tried the patches, tried the gum, and it didn’t make a blind bit of difference. I was stunned by what you were telling me in our session, couldn’t believe it, but you took the time to explain it and it really hit home. I AM A NON SMOKER … and I love it. Thank you so much. Can you please tell me why is this not available on the NHS?”

“Thank you, Colin, for giving me back my self confidence. You know what it’s like and you gave me the encouragement to lose my weight. This time, the weight is falling off me!I’ve lost almost two stones already … I feel in control again.”
